Sony announced that the newly released game Concord, a team-based hero shooter for PlayStation 5 and PC, will be taken offline just two weeks after its launch on August 23, The Guardian reports.
The game, which faced disappointing player counts and poor sales, will be delisted starting September 6, 2024. The game sold fewer than 25,000 copies and had only hundreds of players on Steam. Sony is offering full refunds to all players who purchased Concord on PlayStation 5 or PC. The game’s rapid removal is unusual, as similar failed games typically remain available for about a year.
The game was developed by Firewalk Studios, which Sony acquired in 2023, and was in development for eight years at an estimated cost of over $100 million. The future of Concord remains uncertain, with no information provided on whether it will be permanently canceled or potentially re-released after changes.
