Overwatch 2 Drops Loot Boxes for Battle Pass and Seasonal Free-to-Play Model
Blizzard revealed big updates coming to Overwatch 2, launching on October 4.
The animated short "The Wastelander" premiered at the reveal event, giving players a taste of the upcoming hero, Junker Queen.
Overwatch 2 will launch with three new heroes, Sojourn, Junker Queen and the game's unnamed eighth support character.
The game will be actively supported with a new season every nine weeks, unveiling a new hero, map or game mode.
The 6v6 format has been change to a 5v5 format.
Overwatch 2 will be free-to-play.
Monetization will be through a battle pass model and the option to pay a premium for exclusive content.
Loot boxes will be removed from the game.
