Nintendo and Sony Pictures are collaborating on a live-action film adaptation of the popular video game series “The Legend of Zelda,” BBC reports.
Renowned video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad, known for producing the Spider-Man trilogy, will co-produce the film. Wes Ball, director of “The Maze Runner,” will direct the film.
While there is no information about the cast or plot yet, Miyamoto confirmed the project’s development, with Nintendo heavily involved in production.
“The Legend of Zelda” is one of Nintendo’s most successful franchises, with more than 150 million copies sold since its debut in 1986.
