Marvel’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” achieved a record-breaking $205 million in US and Canadian ticket sales over its opening weekend, marking the biggest domestic opening of the year and setting a new record for R-rated films, surpassing the $154.2 million debut of Disney’s animated “Inside Out 2,” Reuters reports.
The film, featuring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, also grossed $233.3 million internationally. This success marks Disney’s second consecutive hit after a series of underperforming films in 2023, providing a boost for cinema chains struggling with a limited film slate due to last year’s Hollywood strikes.
