Disney is set to acquire Comcast’s remaining one-third stake in the streaming service Hulu, a long-expected transaction that will solidify its ownership of the platform, CNBC reports.
Disney will pay at least $8.61 billion for the stake, with the possibility of paying more based on an appraisal process that will be concluded next year.
The deal originated from Disney’s purchase of Fox’s entertainment assets, which granted it two-thirds ownership of Hulu.
Disney currently offers Hulu as part of a streaming bundle alongside Disney+ and ESPN+.
