A group of Niger soldiers claim to have overthrown Nigerien President Mohamed Bazoum and his government, AP News reports.
The soldiers, calling themselves the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Country said it was due to the deteriorating security situation and bad governance.
The group announced on state television that all institutions had been suspended, and a curfew was imposed.
