The military junta in Niger has formed a military alliance with neighboring countries Burkina Faso and Mali, Deutsche Welle reports.
This alliance allows for mutual military assistance in the event of an attack or intervention against the coup leaders in Niger.
Additionally, the three countries have agreed to collaborate in countering terrorist groups operating in the region and securing their borders.
The Sahel region has been facing threats from various terrorist militias for years, some of which are affiliated with Al-Qaeda or the Islamic State.
