Former One Direction singer Liam Payne, 31, was found dead after falling from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room in Buenos Aires, according to Argentine police, Reuters reports.
Police were called to the CasaSur hotel after reports of an aggressive guest, potentially under the influence of drugs or alcohol. They discovered Payne in the courtyard and were informed by hotel staff that he had caused disturbances in his room prior to the incident. The circumstances of his death remain unclear, though Payne had openly discussed his struggles with mental health and alcohol.
Payne rose to fame as part of One Direction, one of the best-selling boy bands, and later pursued a solo career. He had recently attended a concert by former bandmate Niall Horan and shared updates on social media about his trip to Argentina, enjoying activities like horseback riding and polo. Payne’s death prompted an outpouring of grief from fans and fellow musicians, including American singer Charlie Puth.
