Google has announced a $2 billion investment to establish its first data center and cloud region in Malaysia, aimed at enhancing services like Google Search, Maps, and AI across the country, Al Jazeera reports.

The investment will offer high-performance, low-latency cloud services to businesses, startups, and public sector organizations while maintaining top security standards. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said this initiative is expected to contribute $3.2 billion to the economy and create 26,500 jobs by 2030.

This move follows similar investments in Southeast Asia by Microsoft, which plans to invest $2.2 billion in AI and cloud computing in Malaysia. Additionally, Amazon recently announced a $9 billion investment in Singapore to expand its cloud infrastructure.
