Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced during the company’s Q3 earnings call that over 25% of new code at Google is now generated by AI, Business Insider reports.
Pichai stated that the company is heavily investing in artificial intelligence (AI), which has enhanced productivity and improved efficiency, with AI-generated code being reviewed by employees afterward to ensure quality. The company has developed an internal AI model named “Goose,” trained on 25 years of Google’s engineering expertise, to assist employees in coding and product development.
While some employees may worry about job security as AI becomes more prevalent, company leaders have reassured staff that AI is not currently replacing jobs. However, the significant percentage of AI-generated code highlights the potential benefits of this technology in the workplace.
