Russia Expels Six British Diplomats, Accuses Them of Spying and Sabotage

Russia’s FSB security service has expelled six British diplomats in Moscow, accusing them of involvement in spying and sabotage activities, amid growing tensions over the UK’s support for Ukraine, Reuters reports.

The FSB claimed to have evidence that a British foreign office department in London was coordinating efforts to escalate the political and military situation and ensure Russia’s defeat in the Ukraine war. The UK called the accusations “baseless” and attributed the decision to its own expulsion of Russian diplomats earlier this year.

The move came just before talks between British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and US President Joe Biden, aimed at allowing Ukraine to use long-range missiles against Russia. Russia warned the West that enabling Ukraine to strike Russian territory would escalate the conflict.
