Five people, including two doctors and Matthew Perry’s personal assistant, have been charged with supplying ketamine to the ‘Friends’ star, leading to his overdose death nearly a year ago, Reuters reports.
The defendants are accused of being part of a network that illegally distributed the drug. The accused include Jasveen Sangha, known as the “Ketamine Queen,” who allegedly sold the fatal doses from a stash house in North Hollywood, and Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who is accused of distributing ketamine without a legitimate medical purpose and teaching Perry’s assistant Kenneth Iwamasa to administer the drug. Iwamasa, who lived with Perry, admitted to injecting the actor multiple times, including on the day he died.
Plasencia allegedly obtained the ketamine from Dr. Mark Chavez, who has admitted to his involvement and agreed to plead guilty. Eric Fleming, another defendant, admitted to distributing 50 vials of ketamine to Iwamasa.
Perry, 54, died from ketamine overdose, leading to drowning in his hot tub. Perry had been undergoing ketamine therapy for depression and anxiety but had not received treatment for a week and a half before his death. The defendants face significant prison sentences if convicted on all charges.
