Apple Leads Sales in China’s Smartphone Market, Huawei Returns to Top 5

Apple has become the largest smartphone vendor in China by shipments, with a market share of 17.3% in 2023, according to data from the International Data Corporation (IDC), CNBC reports.

Despite a 2.2% year-on-year decline in Apple’s overall smartphone shipments, it achieved this feat through timely price promotions that stimulated demand. China’s smartphone market faced challenges due to economic uncertainty and weak consumer spending.

Honor, a spin-off from Huawei, secured the second spot with a 16.8% market share, followed by Vivo, Huawei, and Oppo. Huawei, making a comeback, recorded a 36% year-on-year growth in shipments in the December quarter, securing a 13.9% market share.
