China Conducts Largest Military Drills Around Taiwan Amid Rising Tensions
Taiwan
China launched extensive military exercises near Taiwan, involving air, naval, and rocket forces, covering seven zones around the island, making it the largest drill near Taiwan to date.
Drills include live-fire exercises, simulated strikes on land and sea targets, port blockades, sea-air combat readiness patrols, and coordinated joint operations.
The exercises, named “Justice Mission 2025,” aim to deter Taiwan independence movements and foreign interference, and showcase China’s ability to encircle the island.
Taiwan reported detecting 89 Chinese aircraft and 28 naval vessels, marking one of the highest levels of activity in recent years.
Taiwan placed its military on high alert and conducted rapid-response drills, emphasizing readiness to defend the island and maintain maritime and airspace security.
The drills disrupted over 100,000 international passengers and led to the cancellation of approximately 80 domestic flights.
