In 2023, the world’s 500 richest individuals saw their combined net worth rise by $1.5 trillion, rebounding from a previous year’s loss of $1.4 trillion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Bloomberg reports.
This growth was largely influenced by the tech sector, with tech billionaires witnessing a 48% increase in wealth, amounting to $658 billion, mainly due to the excitement around artificial intelligence.
Elon Musk reclaimed his position as the world’s richest person, gaining $95.4 billion, followed by Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg, whose fortunes increased by over $70 billion and $80 billion, respectively.
However, not all billionaires experienced gains; for instance, Gautam Adani lost $37.3 billion due to Hindenburg Research’s actions against the Adani Group.
