Trump and Musk Exchange Criticism and Accusations in Public Fallout

The alliance between U.S. President Donald Trump and Tech Billionaire Elon Musk ended abruptly in a bitter feud, with public insults, political fallout, and financial consequences, marking a stunning end to their partnership.

Musk, who backed Trump with over $250 million and served as head of the Department of Government Efficiency, sharply criticized Trump’s tax and spending bill as reckless, calling it a “disgusting abomination” that would drastically increase the federal deficit. Meanwhile, Trump accused Musk of self-interest, claiming he turned on the bill after losing EV tax credits, and threatened to cut government contracts to Musk’s companies, including SpaceX and Starlink. Musk fired back, accusing Trump of being tied to the unreleased Jeffrey Epstein files and threatening to decommission SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft.

The feud hit Musk financially, with Tesla’s stock plunging 14%, wiping out $150 billion in market value, as the feud intensified. Musk claimed Trump would have lost the election without his support, while Trump expressed disappointment and questioned their future relationship.
