Influencer Trevor Daniel Jacob has been sentenced to six months in federal prison for staging a fake plane crash in California for a YouTube video, AP News reports.
Jacob, 30, an experienced pilot and skydiver, pleaded guilty to obstructing an investigation by destroying and concealing the plane wreckage. The Justice Department revealed that Jacob had no intention of completing the flight and later lied to investigators about the crash site’s location.
The video titled “I Crashed My Airplane” showed Jacob purportedly experiencing engine failure in a small plane and parachuting to safety over the Los Padres National Forest.
