US Teenager Claims to Be First to Beat Tetris

Thirteen-year-old Willis Gibson from Oklahoma has reportedly become the first human player to beat Nintendo’s classic video game Tetris, 34 years after its release, BBC reports.

Gibson posted a video of his achievement reaching level 157 in just 38 minutes on YouTube, where he’s known as Blue Scuti. The feat surprised many, as until recently players believed the game could only be played up to level 29. Gibson also claims to have set four additional Tetris world records.

Tetris, originally created in 1984, has seen various adaptations across consoles and platforms. Previously, only AI had reached the game’s “kill screen,” where it crashes due to the player’s progression.
