Finland and Estonia have temporarily shut down the Balticconnector gas pipeline due to a suspected leak in the Baltic Sea, AP News reports.
Gas system operators Gasgrid Finland and Elering observed a drop in pressure in the pipeline and subsequently halted gas flow on Sunday.
The cause of the suspected leak is under investigation, and if damage is found, repairs could take several months.
The pipeline is bi-directional and transfers natural gas between the two countries depending on demand and supply.
