Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis have issued a public apology in an Instagram video for the letters they wrote to support Danny Masterson, Variety reports.
Kutcher and Kunis were among over 50 people who wrote letters to support Masterson, who was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison for rape.
They clarified that their letters, where they described Masteron as a “role model,” were intended to represent the person they knew for 25 years.
The actors acknowledged the pain their letters had caused and were not meant to question the judicial system or victim testimonies.
However, one of the women Masterson was convicted of raping criticized the couple’s apology as insulting and hurtful.
