China Bans Government Officials from Using the iPhone

China has reportedly ordered officials at central government agencies not to use Apple’s iPhones or other foreign-branded devices for work, according to the Wall Street Journal, Reuters reports.

While the ban’s full extent is not clear, employees were given these instructions through workplace chat groups or meetings.

This move is part of China’s ongoing effort to reduce its reliance on foreign technologies and promote domestic alternatives.

China is one of Apple’s biggest markets, generating nearly a fifth of its revenue from the country.
