Anti-Establishment Candidate Wins Primary Vote in Argentina

Javier Milei and his La Libertad Avanza party emerged as the largest party with 30% of the vote in Argentina’s primary election, AP News reports.

Milei has an unconventional stance on various issues, including climate change denial, advocacy for gun ownership deregulation and more.

Milei also advocates for replacing the Argentine peso with the US dollar and the abolition of the country’s Central Bank.

The Argentine peso fell sharply in value following his victory and raised concerns about accelerating inflation.

The Argentinian government decided to devalue the currency by 20% following the results of the primary election.
