WHO Says Covid No Longer a Global Health Emergency

On Friday, the World Health Organization said that Covid-19 no longer qualifies as a global emergency, AP News reports.

The virus has affected an estimated 765 million people globally and claimed more than 6.9 million lives, The Guardian reports.

Since January of this year, the Covid death toll has fallen by 95% globally. However, last month the virus killed 16,000 people.

The UN health agency first declared the coronavirus an international crisis on January 30, 2020, more than three years ago.
