Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed in a letter to the US House Judiciary Committee that Biden administration officials pressured Meta to censor COVID-19 content during the pandemic, including humor and satire, Reuters reports.
Zuckerberg expressed regret for not speaking out sooner and acknowledged that some of Meta’s content removal decisions were questionable in hindsight. He labeled the government pressure as inappropriate and vowed to resist similar demands in the future.
Additionally, Zuckerberg announced he would refrain from funding electoral infrastructure in the upcoming presidential election to avoid any perceived influence, noting past criticism of his $400 million contribution in 2020.
