IMF Approves $3 Billion Bailout for Sri Lanka

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will grant a rescue loan of three billion dollars to crisis-hit Sri Lanka, reports Financial Times.

On Tuesday, a deal was finally reached after six months of negotiations when Sri Lanka’s biggest lender China agreed to restructure its loans.

In return, Sri Lanka has agreed to implement fiscal, monetary and governance reforms to fight corruption and raise tax revenues.

The country has around $95 billion in public debt.
