Milan Reports 50% of Passengers on China Flights Have Covid

Italian health authorities will start to test all travelers from China for Covid after finding half of the passengers on two flights to Milan to be infected.

China has seen a rise in Covid cases following its decision to stop its strict zero-Covid policy. Some nations are concerned of new variants emerging from China.

The UK, Germany and France are closely monitoring the situation and evaluating useful measures, but will not introduce mandatory testing for now.

“We have no indication that a more dangerous mutation has developed in China that would give rise to a declaration of a virus variant area, which would result in corresponding travel restrictions.”

– Sebastian Guelde, German Health Ministry Spokesman
