In 14 days, “Avatar: The Way of Water” has passed $1 billion box office sales, becoming the fastest movie this year to cross the milestone.
James Cameron’s “Avatar” sequel has so far generated $317.1 million in North America and $712.7 million overseas, in total of $1.025 billion worldwide.
In 2022, only three movies have managed to surpass the milestone, including “Top Gun: Maverick” in 31 days and “Jurassic World Dominion” in four months.
In 2009, the original “Avatar” released and became the highest-grossing release in history with $2.97 billion globally.
