A group of graduate students at China’s Wuhan University have developed the InvisDefense coat and won a cybersecurity contest held by tech giant Huawei.

By day, the coat’s customized camouflage patterns created with an algorithm, is able to escape detection from visible light cameras.
By night, the coat’s embedded thermal devices emit an unusual heat pattern to avoid detection from security cameras using infrared thermal imaging.
The coat reduced the accuracy of pedestrian identification by 57% when tested on campus security cameras.
