Hellena Taylor, the original voice actress of Bayonetta has urged players to boycott the game on Twitter, after she was offered a flat sum of $4,000 to voice the character.
Taylor claims she received a lowball offer, before she appealed to series creator Hideki Kamiya who offered the final $4,000 flat sum.
PlatinumGames’s $4,000 offer would be in line with industry standards, but does not take into account the high profile of the character, and Taylor’s 13-year relationship with the role.
Taylor’s replacement, Jennifer Hale of Mass Effect and Knights of the Old Republic fame, would presumably cost far more than $4,000 for the role.
Bayonetta is one of PlatinumGame’s most successful franchises, selling over three million units across both games, according to VGChartz.
