On Thursday, Google announced plans to shut down its cloud gaming service Stadia on Jan. 18, 2023, due to lackluster demand from customers.
Customers will be refunded for purchases made from the Google Store and the Stadia store, according to Phil Harrison, the vice president and general manager of Stadia.
In 2019, Google launched Stadia, which let users stream and play games via smartphones, web browsers and other gadgets using Google’s Chromecast streaming device.
In 2021, Google announced it would stop making video games for its Stadia platform, as the console struggled to take off.
