EU’s Ursula von der Leyen Survives Two No-Confidence Votes

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen survived two no-confidence votes in the European Parliament on Thursday.
The first motion filed by far-right group Patriots for Europe (PfE) was rejected after a 378-179 vote in support and 37 abstentions.
The second motions filed by far-left alliance The Left also failed after a 383-133 vote in support and 78 abstentions.
The PfE criticized von der Leyen on migration, climate, economic policies, trade deals (notably with the U.S.), and alleged lack of transparency. The Left accused her of insufficient action on humanitarian issues in Gaza and condemned certain trade agreements, including the U.S. deal.
This marks the third no-confidence challenge von der Leyen has faced in a year since starting her second term.
