French President Emmanuel Macron has announced an additional €2 billion ($2.15 billion) in military aid to Ukraine during a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Paris. The package includes military equipment like Milan anti-tank missiles, Mistral air defense missiles, MICA missiles for Mirage fighter jets, armored vehicles, drones, and ammunition.
The pledge comes ahead of an international summit bringing together leaders from the “Coalition of the Willing” to discuss military aid, security commitments, and the potential deployment of European forces in Ukraine. Macron stated that European forces could be deployed to strategic locations in Ukraine, not intended for frontline combat but as a deterrent against future Russian attacks.
Macron dismissed any suggestion of easing sanctions on Russia, insisting that lifting restrictions depends on Moscow’s compliance with international law. He criticized Russia’s attempt to reinterpret ceasefire agreements and reaffirmed Europe’s stance on maintaining pressure on the Kremlin.
