Musk suggested that the attack involved significant resources, potentially from a large, coordinated group or a country. He later mentioned that the IP addresses involved appeared to be from Ukraine, but offered no concrete evidence to support the claim. Cybersecurity experts were skeptical, noting that denial-of-service attacks often originate from compromised devices worldwide and that attributing responsibility based on IP addresses is unreliable.
While the exact cause remains uncertain, experts question whether a state actor would execute such a short-lived attack. Some believe it could be a botnet-driven operation, possibly a symbolic gesture rather than a serious security threat.
