UK Offers to Send Peacekeeping Troops to Ukraine

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that he is prepared to deploy British troops to Ukraine as part of a postwar peacekeeping force, emphasizing the need for a lasting peace in Ukraine and to deter further aggression from Russia.

Starmer acknowledged the gravity of potentially putting British troops in harm’s way but stressed the importance of contributing to Ukraine’s security, calling it essential for Europe’s collective security. His statement marked the first time he explicitly supported the idea of British peacekeepers in Ukraine.

Starmer’s remarks come as U.S. and Russian officials prepare to meet in Saudi Arabia for peace talks, following U.S. President Donald Trump’s call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which excluded European allies. Starmer, along with other European leaders, will attend talks in Paris convened by French President Emmanuel Macron.
