Russia has reportedly launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) at the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, marking the potential first use of such a weapon in the ongoing war, Reuters reports.
The missile, launched from Astrakhan in Russia, targeted critical infrastructure in Dnipro, causing industrial damage and fires, injuring two people. Ukraine’s air force identified the missile as having characteristics of an ICBM, though its exact warhead and payload were not confirmed. Experts believe the missile used may have been the RS-26 Rubezh, a solid-fuel ICBM capable of carrying nuclear warheads, though it can also be used with conventional payloads for shorter ranges.
This missile attack follows Ukraine’s recent use of US and British missiles to strike targets deep into Russian territory, which Moscow had warned would escalate the conflict.
