Russia Launches First Missile Attack on Kyiv Since August, Ukraine Says

Russia launched its first missile attack on Kyiv since August, the first missile assault on Kyiv in over two months, prompting residents, including elderly women and children, to seek shelter in metro stations, Reuters reports.

Ukrainian air defenses intercepted several missiles and drones, including two cruise missiles, two ballistic missiles, and 37 drones nationwide, with no major damage or casualties reported in Kyiv. However, falling debris outside the city caused a warehouse fire and injured a man.

This new attack raises concerns about potential strikes on Ukraine’s power infrastructure as winter approaches, with power company Ukrenergo imposing restrictions on electricity supplies for businesses. Ukraine’s officials warned that Russia may be preparing for a large-scale attack on the energy infrastructure once again.
