Germany Arrests Eight Right-Wing Suspects Plotting Revolt

German police arrested eight members of a right-wing militant group called the “Saechsische Separatisten” (Saxony Separatists), suspected of plotting to overthrow the modern German state driven by racist ideology and conspiracy theories, Reuters reports.

German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser stated that authorities had successfully thwarted plans for a militant coup by right-wing extremists, with seven arrests in eastern cities, with one suspect apprehended in Poland. The suspects include four alleged founding members, with charges related to participation in a domestic terrorist organization. The arrests were part of a larger police operation involving 450 officers aimed at dismantling the group.

The Saxony Separatists, founded in 2020, consist of 15 to 20 individuals, who believe that Germany is on the brink of collapse and have been training in paramilitary tactics, including urban warfare and firearms handling. The group planned for a “Day X” when they would use force to overthrow the German government and establish a new regime in eastern Germany inspired by National Socialism, including plans for ethnic cleansing.
