- A father and son opened fire at a Jewish Hanukkah celebration in Sydney’s Bondi Beach, killing 15 people, including a 10-year-old child, and injuring at least 42 others, marking Australia’s deadliest mass shooting in nearly 30 years.
- Authorities described the attack as a targeted antisemitic act of terrorism aimed at the Jewish community during a public religious celebration attended by more than 1,000 people.
- The gunmen fired for around 10 minutes from an elevated boardwalk using long-barrelled firearms. Police shot and killed the 50-year-old father, while the 24-year-old son was wounded, arrested, and remains under guard in the hospital.
- Police found improvised explosive devices near the scene and in a nearby car, which were rendered safe.
