Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused North Korea of deploying officers to support Russian forces in Ukraine, claiming that Pyongyang is preparing to send 10,000 troops to aid Moscow’s war effort, Reuters reports.
Zelensky shared this intelligence during a press conference in Brussels, claiming that North Korean army officers were already on occupied Ukrainian territory, calling it a potential “first step to the World War.” However, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte stated that there is currently no evidence of North Korean troops in Ukraine at this time, although he acknowledged that North Korea has been supplying weapons and technology to Russia.
The US also expressed concern, saying any North Korean troop involvement would signal a strengthening of Moscow-Pyongyang ties. Zelensky urged allies to respond with sanctions against North Korea.
