Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky presented his “Victory Plan” to Ukraine’s parliament, urging national unity as the country faces ongoing Russian advances and impending winter power shortages, Reuters reports.
The plan outlines five key points, an unconditional invitation to NATO, specific weapons support, the development of a non-nuclear deterrence capability, and Western assistance in defending Ukraine’s natural resources and post-war reconstruction. Zelensky emphasized the importance of unity among Ukrainians, particularly with the upcoming US presidential election potentially impacting support for Ukraine. The Kremlin dismissed the plan, stating that Ukraine needed to realize the futility of its current policies.
Zelensky recently discussed his plan with US President Joe Biden during a visit to Washington and various European leaders in a subsequent tour of Europe. He plans to present it at an upcoming EU summit in Brussels.
