Ukrainian military recruitment officers conducted raids in Kyiv, targeting restaurants, bars, and a concert hall, checking men’s military registration documents and detaining those who were not in compliance with military registration laws, AP News reports.
The crackdown reflects Ukraine’s urgent need for recruits in its ongoing war with Russia. All men aged 18-60 may not leave Ukraine, and those aged 25-60 are eligible for conscription. Reports indicated similar raids occurred in other cities, including Kharkiv and Dnipro. Ukraine has intensified its mobilization efforts this year, including changes in draft laws, requiring eligible men to register online.
Meanwhile, Ukraine claimed to have struck a Russian-controlled oil terminal in Luhansk, aiming to disrupt fuel supplies for the Russian war effort. Russia’s Defense Ministry reported intercepting 47 Ukrainian drones in recent attacks, while Ukrainian air defenses shot down 24 of 28 drones aimed at Ukraine.
