A Russian ballistic missile attack on Ukraine’s Odesa region killed six people and injured eight, including four in serious condition, according to Odesa Regional Governor Oleh Kiper, Reuters reports.
The attack targeted port infrastructure in Chornomorsk and damaged the Panamanian-flagged container ship Shui Spirit. This incident marked the third missile strike in the Odesa region within four days. Previous attacks included a missile hitting a Palau-flagged vessel in Odesa port on Monday, killing one Ukrainian and injuring five foreign nationals. Another missile damaged a civilian Saint Kitts and Nevis-flagged ship loaded with corn in the port of Pivdennyi.
Kiper condemned the attack as an attempt by Russia to disrupt Ukraine’s grain corridor while endangering civilians and infrastructure. Following Russia’s withdrawal from a grain deal brokered by Turkey, vessels have been rerouting along Ukraine’s southwestern Black Sea coast to reach Turkey.
