Emirates Airlines has banned passengers from carrying pagers and walkie-talkies on its flights due to security concerns following recent attacks on Hezbollah involving communication devices that exploded, Reuters reports.
The airline stated that these items are prohibited in both checked and cabin baggage, and any found will be confiscated by Dubai Police. The decision comes after deadly attacks in September, where booby-trapped Hezbollah pagers and radios exploded, an act widely attributed to Israel, though not officially claimed.
Additionally, Emirates has suspended flights to Iraq and Iran until Tuesday and to Lebanon until October 15, amid rising tensions and Israeli strikes against Hezbollah. Other airlines have also halted flights to Beirut and surrounding regional airports.
