Emirates Airline Issues Apology for Flight Disruptions After Dubai Floods

Emirates airline CEO Tim Clark issued an apology letter to customers following historic rains that caused severe flooding and chaos at Dubai Airport. Hundreds of flights were grounded, leaving thousands of passengers stranded, CNBC reports.

Clark acknowledged the airline’s imperfect response, citing congestion, lack of information, and long wait times at terminals. He explained that flooded roads hindered staff and essential supplies from reaching the airport, leading to flight diversions and cancellations. Emirates urged travelers not to come to the airport and suspended check-ins and ticket sales. Angry passengers shared their experiences on social media, detailing long wait times and lack of assistance.

Despite the challenges, Clark highlighted efforts to assist disrupted customers, including providing 12,000 hotel rooms and 250,000 meal vouchers. The company has also put together a taskforce to return 30,000 pieces of baggage to their owners.
