Tesla announced a recall of over 27,000 Cybertrucks in the US due to delayed rear-view camera images, which could impair driver visibility and increase crash risks, Reuters reports.
Tesla reported that affected vehicles might not properly complete a shutdown process before rebooting, causing delays in the rear-view image display. This marks the fifth recall for 2024 Cybertruck models this year, and it is the largest among the recalls issued so far, with Tesla issuing a software update to fix the issue. The company had previously recalled Cybertrucks for various issues, including a loose accelerator pedal pad, windshield wiper problems, and exterior trim.
Deliveries of the Cybertruck began in November 2023 after a two-year delay attributed to production challenges and battery supply constraints. Tesla has not released specific production or delivery figures for the model, which was introduced to refresh its product lineup amid a slowdown in electric vehicle demand.
