Russia and Ukraine have exchanged 103 prisoners of war (POWs) each, with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) facilitating the swap, marking the eighth successful mediation by the UAE, Al Jazeera reports.
The Russian Ministry of Defence and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the return of 206 prisoners in total. This exchange included 82 Ukrainian privates and sergeants, 21 officers, and an equal number of Russian servicemen, currently in Belarus receiving psychological and medical support.
This prisoner swap follows previous exchanges, with the UAE having mediated a total of 1,994 prisoner exchanges since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
