Swift announced her support for Harris and her running mate Tim Walz in an Instagram post to her 280 million followers, highlighting their commitment to rights she values, including LGBTQ+ rights and reproductive freedom. She criticized Trump for spreading misinformation and highlighted her concerns about AI and fake media, referencing a fake social media image of herself promoting Trump, emphasizing her desire to clarify her voting intentions.
Swift’s endorsement, which includes a nod to her own pet cat in response to a remark by Trump’s running mate JD Vance about “childless cat ladies,” comes as polls show a tight race between Harris and Trump. Swift previously supported Democrat President Joe Biden in 2020.
