Ukraine launched its largest drone attack on Moscow to date, targeting the capital region and killing at least one person, damaging dozens of homes, and diverting around 50 flights from Moscow’s airport, Reuters reports.
Russia reported destroying at least 20 Ukrainian drones over the Moscow region and 124 more across eight other regions. The strikes damaged homes, including a high-rise apartment building in Ramenskoye district near Moscow, where a 46-year-old woman was killed and three others injured. Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the Ukrainian drone attacks as “terrorism” and vowed retaliation. Meanwhile, Ukraine asserts its right to strike back deep into Russian territory.
Kyiv claimed that Russia had attacked Ukraine with 46 drones overnight, of which 38 were destroyed. The war between Ukraine and Russia has evolved into a heavy reliance on drones and artillery, with both sides utilizing drones for attacks on military and civilian targets. Both sides deny targeting civilians.
