Typhoon Yagi Leaves 46 People Dead in Vietnam

Typhoon Yagi, the most powerful storm in Asia this year, has caused significant destruction in northern Vietnam, leaving at least 46 people dead and 22 missing due to landslides and flooding, Reuters reports.

The typhoon, which made landfall on Vietnam’s northeastern coast, triggered landslides and floods, cutting power to millions, flooding highways, damaging infrastructure, including the collapse of a key bridge in Phu Tho province, and disrupting industrial operations, particularly in Haiphong.

The storm was downgraded to a tropical depression on Sunday, but continued heavy rain and strong winds are expected to bring further flooding and landslides. Power has been partially restored to affected areas and authorities are assessing the full extent of the damage.
