Zelensky Orders Government Reshuffle, Ukraine Foreign Minister Resigns

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced a major government reshuffle, emphasizing the need for “new energy” amid the ongoing war with Russia, Reuters reports.

Six ministers, including Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, submitted their resignations with parliament accepting four of them. This shakeup is part of a planned overhaul aimed at strengthening the government. Analysts noted the overhaul had been planned but delayed due to Zelensky’s focus on securing military and financial aid from Western partners. Despite Kuleba’s departure, no significant foreign policy changes are expected.

Zelensky seeks to rejuvenate his administration as he prepares for key diplomatic engagements, including a trip to the US to present a “victory plan” to President Joe Biden. The reshuffle comes as the war intensifies, with Russian forces advancing in eastern Ukraine and Kyiv launching drone attacks on Russian infrastructure.
